OCCUPATIONAL BALANCE AND MENTAL HEALTH OF PARENTS OF CHILDREN ATTENDING CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EARLY INTERVENTION CENTERS

Parents of children cared for in Child Development and Early Intervention Centers (CDIAT), in addition to the natural upbringing of their children, assume the role of informal caregivers, dedicating a large part of their time to the care of their children.

Parents sacrifice and neglect their own participation in other meaningful activities, thus impacting occupational balance.

Likewise, having a child with early intervention needs can affect levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional well-being, conditions that can therefore alter the mental health of the parents.
