InstrumenTO-ECO: Cross-Cultural Adaptation, Translation, and Measurement Properties Evaluation of Occupational Assessment and Screening Instruments
The InstrumenTO-ECO project is a research initiative led by the InTeO Research Group at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH).
Its primary aim is to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and evaluate the psychometric properties of three occupational assessment instruments for use in the Spanish adult population: the Classification and Assessment of Occupational Dysfunction (CAOD), the Occupational Resilience Measure (ORM), and the scales based on the Doing, Being, Becoming, and Belonging (DB3) model.
PROJECT Rationale
Participation in everyday activities, such as self-care, work, social engagement, and leisure, is a key determinant of health, well-being, and quality of life.. When difficulties arise in occupational performance or occupational balance, experiences of occupational imbalance, occupational deprivation, or occupational alienation may occur..
Despite their importance for preventive occupational therapy and public health, there are currently few instruments that have been adapted and validated for the Spanish context to enable comprehensive assessment and early screening of occupational difficulties and resilience in everyday life..
Project OBJECTIVES
Given the need for instruments that support evidence-based professional practice, the objectives of the InstrumenTO-ECO Project are:
Translate
To translate the CAOD, ORM, and DB3 instruments for use with the Spanish adult population.
Cross-cultural adaptation
To cross-culturally adapt the CAOD, ORM, and DB3 instruments for use with the Spanish adult population.
Validate
To evaluate the psychometric properties of the CAOD, ORM, and DB3 instruments in the Spanish adult population.
Project INSTRUMENTS
The InstrumenTO-ECO project currently has three main objectives: to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and evaluate the measurement properties (validity, reliability, and interpretability) of the CAOD, ORM, and DB3 instruments for use in the Spanish adult population.
CAOD
Classification and Assessment of Occupational Dysfunction
ORM
Occupational Resilience Measure
DB3
Doing, Being, Becoming and Belonging Scales
